Memorial Day / Weekend

Another long post coming your way! Memorial day weekend was a busy time for this family. Brandon's college friend Nick and his wife Elizabeth were in town for a visit, so we grilled out Friday night. It was great to catch up with them, we only get to see them once or twice a year.

On Saturday we went to a cook-out at Steph and Nick's house. Ella got to spend some quality time with Auntie Darcy, her godmother Steph, and Uncle Dan. She was such a good girl, and let mom and dad enjoy their day outside! Darcy and I reigned as bean bag toss champs for a little bit, only to lose our next game. :(

Sunday, Brandon golfed with some friends and Ella and I hung out. She did a lot of sitting practice, she is getting pretty good at sitting on her own now as long as she has something to lean on if she goes to far to one side.

Monday was a very eventful day as well, we practiced sitting on our own again and cheered on the Brewers, though the cheering didn't seem to help. Ella got to wear her little Brewers outfit though!

We fed Ella her first food, rice cereal (an entire post will be devoted to this later!)

And after having her first taste of Rice Cereal we played outside in the beautiful weather.

And after the long, eventful weekend she passed out at 6pm Monday night. Wonder how early that means we will be getting a wake up call on Tuesday morning!

It was a beautiful day today, so I took Ella outside to play. I lathered her up with sunscreen, put on her little hat and headed out.

After a while, she was getting warm, so I took off her shirt and let her hang out in just her shorts.

Then she decided she would rather sit with mommy than in her chair, and that she wanted to chew on something cold. I think it was her way of cooling off!

I needed to cool off too, so we walked down to the corner and got ice cream! Then it was nap time, and I got a chance to get an updated post up here on the blog. This is gonna be a long one since I haven't posted in a while......
Ella is almost 6 months now, and she is so much fun! She is smiling and giggling all the time, and we are working on sitting up on her own and standing. When she is leaning against you on your lap, she uses her super ab muscles to sit herself upright. But, then she spots those feet, and falls forward trying to get them to her mouth. She is "talking" a lot now too, with her "ba ba ba's" and da da da's, and this past week she has added "la la la's" to the vocabulary. I swear she said "ma ma ma" once, and on mother's day no less, but I haven't heard it since.
Sitting with Auntie Kelli.....

And standing with Auntie Kelli........

And standing with mommy, while getting kisses....

And just chillin with my bad self.....I absolutely love this picture!

We had a family wedding a few weeks ago, Brandon's cousin got married, so here are some updated family photos of us all dressed up.

And that brings us up to date. Hopefully I will be posting more often, but life with an infant is so unpredictable!

The love of feet

Ella has discovered her feet. Everytime she is laying down, she is all about her feet. She tries so hard to get them into her mouth.........

and she finally got it!

My first mother's day

As all the moms out there know, this weekend was mother's day. In our house, it was my first mother's day! My husband, being the wonderful man that he is, made it a great day for me! I got a BEAUTIFUL necklace that has Ella's birthstone (blue topaz) in it, plus, he took over all the housework for the day so that I could spend the whole day with my baby girl. It was so wonderful to not have to worry about dishes, laundry, or dinner and just focus on Ella. I think he was a little overwhelmed with everything that had to be done, but he did well! I had the best first mother's day.

Ella is 5 months!!

I cannot believe it, but Ella is 5 months old already! I feel like I was just pregnant yesterday, she is growing up too fast! She is getting her first tooth now, and she is doing pretty good so far. Some more fussing than usual, but nothing that we can't handle. She is still super smiley and is giggling a lot more now, so sometimes it is hard to tell that she is teething. However, she does love to put EVERYTHING in her mouth so we are being super careful with what is laying within her reach.

Her favorite thing to put in her mouth right now is her burp cloth. During every mealtime, when she thinks I am not looking, she grabs her burp cloth, quick unlatches, and shoves the burp cloth in her mouth. And, when I take it out she gets a huge smile on her face like she just fooled mom!

Here are some pics showing how much she loves to put things in her mouth. It is non stop!
