A visit with the Enlunds
We went to visit our friends, the Enlunds this weekend and had a great time!! It was so much fun to see them again and see their new house, and of course to have all the kids together. The Inmans joined us as well with their adorable new puppy, so there were all sorts of "kids" running around. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Reading = chewing
So now that I got the sad post about missing my hubby out of the way......more about Ella! She loves books, and usually WE read to HER, but this time she took the book right out of my hands to do it herself.
Ten seconds later, that book ended up in her mouth! She chewed on it for a good 15 mins and then decided she was done with that book. At least she likes books!!

Missing my hubby
Brandon has been gone all week in Idaho for work, and I am missing him a lot. It is very lonely without another adult around, you can't have much conversation with a 4 month old. I have been able to spend a lot of quality time with Ella this week, which is wonderful, but I am finding it difficult to juggle everything without Brandon's help. I have gotten a taste of what it must be like to be a single mother, and I have so much respect for those women.
I know that Ella misses her daddy too. I know she is too young to really notice that he is not here, but everytime I am on the phone with him Ella starts babbling away like she is telling him about her day too! I'm not sure this helps him though, it seems to make him miss her more when he hears her little voice on the line with me.
I think that this trip is harder on him that it is on me though. I have Ella, family and friends to be with here, and he has no one. I know he loves his job, but I am not sure he is going to be able to handle being away from his family this much. It makes me sad to hear his sad voice on the phone talking about how much he misses us and how he can't wait to come home. He will be doing a lot of travel this summer, and I hope he will get used to being gone, or he will get more and more miserable with each trip he takes.
He comes home tomorrow afternoon though, and I just have to make it through one more night, one more morning, and one more work day before I can see him again!!!

A little grown up time
After we spent a great day hanging out and playing with Ella on Saturday, Brandon and I got to have some grown up time. I went to a Lia Sophia party with a few girlfriends, and then Brandon and I went out for drinks with our friends Elliot and Margaux. Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Terry came down for the evening to spend some time with their granddaughter. (Ella decided her bedtime last night was 10pm instead of the normal 7pm, which grandma and grandpa happily agreed to so they could spend more time with her.) Elliot and Margaux have two kids, and after some talk about the babies, we all decided it was nice to be "out on the town", and to have a conversation that was not in baby talk. While we only stayed out for a few hours, it was a much needed break for us all.
The only issue with our late night was Ella's 6:30 wake up call. Why is it that she can go to bed everynight at 7pm and sleep until 7am, but the one time she goes to bed at 10pm, she only sleeps until 6:30am?? Today is one of those days that when Ella naps, mommy naps. So much for getting the house cleaned!

Mornings
Mornings (during the week) have to be my least favorite time of the day. Ella likes to sleep until about 6:45 or 7 every morning, and I have to leave the house by then to get to work. So, I get about 10 minutes with my daughter in the morning if I am lucky. Brandon gets to hang out with her for about an hour in the morning before he has to drop her off for day care. Morning is also Ella's favorite time, she is so smiley and talkative, and I don't get to be around for it. This morning was one of those mornings where she waited until 7 to wake up, so I only had 2 mintues to see her before I had to leave for work. It makes it a lot harder for me to make it through the day when I don't get to see her in the morning. These are the days where I would love to be a stay at home mom. At least tomorrow is Saturday and I get to spend all day with her!

Another outfit bites the dust
Actually, today it was two outfits that bit the dust. My poor mother in law had 2 major poop blowouts today, both of which ruined the outfits that Ella was wearing. Of course they were both pajamas, one of the few things we have a limited supply in this house! I guess I get to go out and buy some new jammies for her this weekend. I also got to share in the joy of poopy diapers, she had a lovely large poop for me early this evening, though it did not leave the diaper and we were able to save the outfit. I don't understand how something so small and cute can produce so much poop, it is unbelievable! The kicker is that once she is done, she gets the biggest smile on her face. I think part of it is that she loves to be on the changing table....weird, I know. I can't figure out why, but the changing table is her happy place. She can be fussy and crying, and if you lay her on the changing table she is happy and smiling. I have learned to love that changing table, best money ever spent!

Time for sitting
Now that Ella is getting bigger, we are starting to get her used to sitting instead of laying down all the time. We started putting her in the corner of the couch or on our laps to get her used to being in that position.

Rolling over
It was an exciting weekend, Ella rolled over for the first time on Friday night. She rolled from her stomach to her back and I think that was her way of telling us that she as done with tummy time. We took her up to see Grandma and Grandpa on Saturday for a visit, and of course to show them her new trick. We didn't expect to see her roll over again so soon, but she did it twice! Grandma and Grandpa were so proud! We have tried to get it on video, but she seems to know that the camera is on her and gets camera shy, so we don't have it on video yet. I can't believe how big she is getting already, she is already 4 months old. Everyone always says they grow up too fast, I guess I believe that now!
We also took Ella to the park for the first time on Sunday with Aunt Darcy, Uncle Dan and Darren. I think all the kids were a bit overwhelming for her, so we didn't stay too long, but we were able to take a few pictures before we left. Once she is a bit older, this will be a great park for her to play at.
